India launches Mangalyaan, its maiden mission to Mars: who said what
New Delhi:  India launched its first mission to Mars this afternoon from the Sriharikota spaceport in Andhra Pradesh, beginning a 300-day journey to study the Martian atmosphere.
Here are some of the reactions
  • I congratulate you (ISRO chairman K Radhakrishnan) and your team for this historic achievement
Dr Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister 5/11/2013
  • Every Indian is proud of this outstanding scientific feat.
    Sonia Gandhi, Congress president 5/11/2013
  • This launch of India's first dedicated Mars Orbiter Spacecraft is a significant milestone in the progress of our space programme and space applications.
Pranab Mukherjee, President of India 5/11/2013
  • On the behalf of BJP party, I congratulate all the scientists and all those associated with Mission Mars.
Narendra Modi, Bharatiya Janata Party's prime ministerial candidate 5/11/2013
  • We are not in race with anyone. We are in race with ourselves... ISRO's satellites are people-centric and application-centric... I can proudly say space has brought many services to the country.
    K Radhakrishnan, ISRO chief 5/11/2013
  • The mission started very well. All the initial steps have been taken carefully. Finally the velocity increment of nearly 2 to 3 KM/H has been given. Normally nothing should go wrong in this phase.
G Madhavan Nair, former ISRO chief 5/11/2013
