A video going viral on social media captures a safety mishap during a water sports activity in Goa on Sunday. While many people visit Goa to try adventurous and recreational water activities, the video highlights growing concerns about their safety. In the clip, a man is seen parasailing, reportedly at the Baga Beach. The thrilling experience turned frightening when the rope snapped mid-air, and the tourist fell into the sea. The parachute slowed his fall, and the tourist was reportedly wearing a life jacket. As the cable snapped, the woman accompanying him could be heard screaming and panicking in the boat, urging staff members to help.
The viral video, posted on Instagram by @anilchandela83, has garnered 9 million views.
As per reports, the tourism department has sought a full report on the incident and warned of strict action, including licence suspension, if negligence is found.
The viral video received a range of reactions from viewers:
One user said, "Poor rope quality. I think the equipment is not well-maintained. Multiple times, such incidents have happened in Goa, but no action is taken because there is no department to check equipment quality and maintenance."
Another wrote, "New fear unlocked." A third commented, "This is the safety in India."
"This is part of the adventure," read a sarcastic remark.
One viewer shared, "I also experienced an accident in Goa in this same activity. Goa is not at all safe."
Another warned, "Never do such activities in touristy places in India... they don't care about safety."
