- Delhi airport's Terminal 3 houses a unique badminton court
- The Holiday Inn Express at T3 is the only hotel inside the terminal building
- Hotel guests cannot exit during their stay but can easily access check-in and immigration
Major international airports are known to offer a wide range of amenities for the convenience of passengers as well as staff. But some facilities can be rather unexpected. For instance, a viral post making the rounds on social media shows a badminton court located inside the Delhi airport building. It has left many people fascinated. That's not all. The viral thread also details other interesting aspects of a stay at the transit hotel (The Holiday Inn Express) at New Delhi International Airport T3. The posts were shared by Rahul Mathur, an investor.

Rahul explained that, after his flight from Bengaluru to San Francisco was cancelled, he flew from Bengaluru to Delhi. He would later catch a connecting flight to his destination in the USA. During the layover of around 13 hours (from 8 am to 9 am), he got a taste of what the transit hotel had to offer. He noted that it is the only hotel situated inside the Terminal 3 building and described staying there as "quite a strange experience."
Rahul revealed that the badminton court is located inside the same building. Take a look at the photo he shared below:
This badminton court is inside Delhi's T3 building - I discovered this because I stayed overnight inside the terminal yesterday:

My BLR-SFO flight yesterday got cancelled - so I instead flew BLR-DEL and now I'm boarding DEL-SFO - but the layover was ~13 hours (from 8PM to 9AM)… pic.twitter.com/eWHHAKbazJ
Rahul also shared a glimpse of the hotel's gym, which boasts views of the airport tarmac. "You can see flights take off and land - and you can see the NH-48 road," he pointed out.
I did a quick 30 min run a few hours back - the treadmills overlook the airport tarmac - you can see flights take off & land - and you can see the NH-48 road

The hotel even has a 24 hour restaurant - it serves breakfast in the morning - since I booked via AMEX I ended up getting… pic.twitter.com/YaXwVtqq0I
Rahul posted his thoughts about other parts of the hotel, too. He found his room to be rather small, but there was only one standard size available. His room overlooked the main check-in area at T3. As a result, he said, "there was a silent buzzing noise in the background (despite really good sound suppression in the room)." He claimed that the only real views are offered by the hotel's restaurant and the gym.
Now, the strangest part: My room overlooked the main check-in area at T3 - so there was a silent buzzing noise in the background (despite really good sound suppression in the room)

The rooms in the other wing look into the terminal building - so there is no real view from this… pic.twitter.com/DMWzfUbG1H
Rahul informed fellow travellers that one cannot exit the hotel except at the time of check-out. According to him, the benefit of staying here is that one can immediately reach the check-in or immigration queue after exiting the hotel. He specified that the hotel is located before immigration, and one needs to take a long walk to reach here. He added, "The hotel cost (inclusive of GST) was approximately Rs 17K - so it is definitely not cheap - but the 5-star options near the hotel would also work out to the same after factoring in travel costs - and you save a lot of time by being inside the building."

So you stayed at Holiday Inn inside T3. I stayed there by mistake and faced a lot of issue to head out to Delhi for a meeting due to security concern as it's a Transit Hotel.

As per the hotel's website, only passengers whose flight is departing from Terminal 3 can access the hotel. According to government regulations, guests cannot stay more than one night "since the hotel is within the airport terminal."
