Yami Gautam is exploring the beauty of Leh-Ladakh. The actress has embarked on a wonderful sojourn at the destination with her husband, director Aditya Dhar and her family. FYI: Aditya is busy directing the upcoming action-thriller Dhurandhar, featuring Ranveer Singh in Leh. Yami has accompanied him on the shoot, while making the most of her time soaking in the pristine landscapes of the region.

A couple of days ago, Yami Gautam dropped a series of pictures on Instagram from her visit to Thiksey Monastery. The opening frame captured her standing inside the Buddhist shrine. She folded her hands and shared the frame with a monk. Her side note read, "Visited the beautiful and one of the oldest monasteries- Thiksey Monastery! The experience of listening to the chants and prayers shall forever echo in my heart."

Located 19 kilometres from Leh, the capital town of Ladakh, Thiksey Monastery or Thiksey Gompa, is situated on a hillock overlooking the Indus Valley with sweeping views of the magnificent Stok range.

This 12-storey place of worship houses 10 temples and an assembly hall. Since it resembles the famous Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet, the Thiksey Monastery is also known as Mini Potala. A 40-foot-high Buddha statue is the main attraction here, apart from the architecturally brilliant temple of Tara. Precious stupas, thangkas, statues, wall paintings and swords dominate the monastery, making the place a must-visit for travellers and spiritual-seekers alike.

On another page of her Leh-Ladakh diaries, Yami Gautam was seen sipping on tea against a rugged mountainous backdrop and the azure blue sky above. "The feeling of sipping Chai while nestled in the lap of the mighty mountainous terrain of Leh," she captioned the post.

Yami Gautam celebrated Independence Day at Leh's Hall of Fame. The museum, located on the Leh-Kargil Road, was built in memory of the brave Indian soldiers who were martyred in the Indo-Pak wars. Yami and Aditya Dhar posed in front of the war memorial as the Indian Flag fluttered in the background. "Best Independence Day Celebration. Ever! Jai Hind!" she wrote.

Yami Gautam's Leh-Ladakh album is surely a treat for globetrotters.
