With a heavy rush of passengers expected during Holi 2026, the North Central Railway (NCR) has finalised an extensive operational plan to ensure smooth and hassle-free travel across key rail corridors. The zonal railway has notified 204 trips of Holi special trains that will operate through the NCR network, connecting major cities across India during the festive period.

Five Pairs Of Special Trains To Originate From NCR

Out of the total 204 notified trips, the North Central Railway will directly operate five pairs of special trains, accounting for 36 trips under its primary jurisdiction. These trains will originate from key stations within the NCR zone to cater to the seasonal surge in passenger movement.

According to the railway zone, the services will run as per their respective timetables from February 15 to March 31 covering the entire peak travel window around the Holi festival.

List Of NCR-Originating Holi Special Trains 2026

The five pairs of festival special trains announced by North Central Railway are:

  • 04101 / 04102 – Prayagraj - Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT)
  • 04121 / 04122 – Subedarganj - Charlapalli
  • 01922 / 01921 – VGL Jhansi - Pune
  • 01924 / 01923 – VGL Jhansi - Hadapsar
  • 04151 / 04152 – Kanpur Central - Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT)

These routes have been selected based on historically high seasonal demand, especially from passengers travelling to western and southern regions of the country during Holi.

Railway officials also clarified that more special trains may be announced if passenger demand continues to rise closer to Holi.

Indian Railways' Nationwide Holi Travel Plan

At the national level, Indian Railways plans to operate more than 1,410 Holi special trains during the festival season in 2026, with the number expected to increase up to 1,500 services. This is a significant scale-up compared to Holi 2025, when 1,144 special train trips were operated across the network.

Under the zone-wise plan, the North Central Railway will operate special trains, while other zones such as East Central Railway, Western Railway and Central Railway will also deploy a large number of additional services to manage the festive rush.
