Celebrities are known for their jet-set lifestyle. They go on multiple trips to fabulous destinations around the world, and their social media updates about the same give many of us "travel goals" to aspire to. But not everything about it is as glamorous as it seems. Karan Johar's recent Instagram post provides an example of the same. The star took to Instagram to pen a candid post about experiencing travel anxiety. Acknowledging that some may consider it "a champagne problem" while others may find it relatable, he goes on to explain how it manifests during his journeys by air.

When he is scheduled to travel by a flight, Karan Johar revealed that he feels a "desperate need" to reach the airport early. He said that he sometimes arrives even before the ground staff. He cannot seem to relax while waiting in the lounge as his anxiety makes him want to check his passport and boarding pass "50 times." Once Karan is inside the plane, he anxiously awaits the pilot's announcement of the flight's duration "as if my life depends on it," he says. He also pays close attention to whether the pilot predicts a smooth ride or not. In the case of the former, Karan feels more at ease. But in case the passengers are told to expect a "few bumps on the way," he spends the duration of his journey in anticipation of them.

On short flights, Karan Johar said that he checks the route map every 10 minutes. On long-haul flights, he prefers to pop a pill to help him sleep but notes that the "subconscious mind is always turbulence aware." His travel anxiety also influences how he behaves with the cabin crew. He revealed that he feels a "desperate urge to be hugely polite" to them, because he thinks that the flight attendants would be more inclined to be kind to model passengers in an emergency. Thus, he smiles widely at them and thanks them after every interaction.

When the plane is set to land, Karan Johar feels concerned about circling and air traffic. Once the flight journey is over, he rushes out in an attempt to "overtake every passenger like it's a limboo race." He acknowledges that there's no reason to do so.

Karan Johar concluded his write-up by hinting at another update related to his travel anxiety: "There are some packing idiosyncrasies but that's for another post."
