- Wedding fireworks near Paris Orly forced an EasyJet flight to abort its landing
- Pilots carried out a go‑around after spotting fireworks during final approach
- The aircraft later landed safely as authorities reviewed possible violations
An easyJet flight was forced to abort its landing at Paris Orly Airport after fireworks launched during a nearby wedding celebration interfered with the aircraft's final approach, prompting pilots to carry out a safety protocol, according to reports. The incident occurred on April 5, when the Airbus A320‑214, flying from Venice's Marco Polo Airport to Paris Orly, was on final descent. Fireworks suddenly lit up the sky close to the runway approach path, creating a potential hazard and prompting the crew to execute a go‑around, a standard aviation safety procedure.

Fireworks Trigger Safety Response
As reported by AirLive and Aviation A2Z, the fireworks were set off from a wedding procession in the vicinity of the airport. The captain of the easyJet flight reported seeing “light smoke bombs or fireworks.” The bright flashes and loud explosions were visible from the cockpit during the critical landing phase, raising concerns about visibility and potential risks.
Pilots immediately aborted the landing and climbed back to a safe altitude while air traffic controllers assessed the situation.

The aircraft remained airborne for a short time before successfully landing once the fireworks activity stopped and conditions were confirmed to be safe. No injuries were reported, and authorities said there was no damage to the aircraft.
According to People Magazine, passengers experienced a sudden climb just moments before touchdown and later learned that the aborted landing was linked to fireworks being launched nearby.
Wedding Celebration Behind Incident
Reports from Travel and Tour World said the fireworks were part of a wedding celebration, where mortar‑type pyrotechnics were used without apparent consideration of the airport's flight paths. Fireworks near airports pose serious risks due to:
- distraction during landing
- smoke and sparks
- potential debris ingestion by aircraft engines
Fireworks are strictly restricted near airports in France, particularly along approach and departure paths.c
