Hyderabad: Telangana Government today announced cancellation of the Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET-II) examination after the question paper was leaked last week.

"It is unfortunate and painful incident (leakage of question paper). In the wake of leakage of the paper we have no option but to conduct EAMCET once again. I request students and parents to understand the situation and cooperate with the Government," said Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao after a meeting with concerned officials.

According to sources, the common entrance test will be re-conducted on September 10.

Meanwhile, the chief minister has directed the CID to take legal action against parents of the students involved in the alleged scam, the investigating official said.

According to officials, the parents paid advance amounts of Rs 10 to 40 lakh to brokers who took at least 130 students to five different cities and handed them the question papers along with the answers about 48 hours before the exam.

Officials say 34 brokers were involved in the racket. The CID has so far arrested six brokers and traced five others.

EAMCET-II was conducted on July 9 for entry into medical and dental colleges and the results were declared on July 14. The exam was conducted by Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Hyderabad.
