Wozniacki takes inaugural Danish title
Copenhagen: Danish tennis starlet Caroline Wozniacki delighted her home fans here on Sunday by winning the inaugural WTA Danish Open with a 6-2, 7-6 (7/5) victory over Klara Zakapolova of the Czech Republic.

The 20-year-old Wozniacki - ranked three in the world and winning her eighth WTA event - eased to the first set over her seventh seeded opponent but had a much tougher time in the second set.

Wozniacki - who will attempt to win her first senior Grand Slam later this month in the final one of the season the US Open - went 4-2 down to her experienced rival, who was appearing in her 10th final.

However, she fought back valiantly to get the break back and take the set into a tie break which she looked to be on course to race through taking a 6-1 lead.

Zakapolova, though, had other ideas as the 28-year-old Czech produced some resourceful play to being it back to 6-5 before Wonziacki finally closed out the match to add this title to the one she claimed at Ponte Vedra earlier this year.
