Depression over Bay of Bengal to intensify

Chennai: A depression over the Bay of Bengal would intensify into a deep depression and bring rain or thundershowers under its influence in coastal Andhra Pradesh from November 21, Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said in Chennai today.

"A depression has formed over west central Bay of Bengal. It will intensify into a deep depression and move towards the Andhra Pradesh coast during the next 72 hours," IMD said.
     
The depression lay centred at about 650 km east-northeast of Chennai, 550 km east of Machilipatnam and 450 km south-east of Vishakhapatnam, it said, adding rain or thundershowers would occur at many places over coastal Andhra Pradesh from November 21 onwards.

Meanwhile, the Regional Meteorological Centre forecast squally winds along Andhra Pradesh coast from November 20.

"Squally winds speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph would prevail along and off Andhra Pradesh coast from the night of November 20. Sea condition will be rough to very rough along and off Andhra Pradesh coasts," it said.
