Andhra Pradesh to buy additional power of 300 megawatt from today
Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh power utilities are going to purchase additional 300 megawatt power from today to overcome shortfall.

The buying will be through a "short-term power purchase" besides getting optimum power from APGENCO and Central generating stations, a press statement from the Energy Coordination Cell said.

"These short-term purchases are being carried out to minimise the inconvenience to the consumers in view of the prevailing shortage of power which is primarily due to inadequate supply of natural gas to the state," the release said.

APDISCOMs have got approval from Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission for inviting bids for short-term procurement from May 31, 2013 to May 29, 2014.
