Dr Priya Porwal, a 39-year-old woman, opened up about her career, being laid off twice and taking a break for motherhood. In an Instagram video, Porwal revealed that her layoff coincided with her becoming a mother at the age of 35. She shared that she worked hard as an Assistant Professor in an Engineering College and was laid off after five years of service. "It took months to recover - it felt like the ground had shifted," she wrote in the caption. She took a break to care for her child, feeling the weight of uncertainty.
"I tried again. Worked across multiple colleges as visiting faculty. Then a second academic position - but the work culture didn't align. Another door closed," she added. "It was tough to restart holding multiple degrees (M.Tech, MBA, and a Doctorate). But COVID and motherhood changed everything."
After that, she decided to restart her career on her own terms. She began exploring opportunities, eventually building her own business as a digital and affiliate marketing coach. Today, Porwal earns a five-figure income in USD annually.
