For those of you who haven't started their day on the best note, let this video turn things around for you.
Georgia veterinarian Dr Andy Mathis is winning huge praise on social media after a video of him with a rescue dog went viral. The video, posted on February 14 by Granite Hills Animal Care on their Facebook page, has fetched over 6.6 million views.
The clip is receiving so much love because it shows the vet sitting inside a cage with a scared, newly-rescued dog named Graycie and sharing breakfast time with her.
In posts shared earlier, the vet explains that when Graycie was first rescued she was in a bad state - "emaciated, starved (20 lbs), dehydrated, hypothermic (temp of 95), anemic, and with a vaginal prolapse." He even considered putting her to sleep but decided against the idea and chose to nurse her back to health.
Graycie has since made a lot of progress but still has a long road to recovery. The pooch still finds her cage most comfortable and usually hides in a corner when someone tries to meet her.
So, hoping to comfort the little thing and make sure she eats to regain her strength, Dr Mathis spent breakfast in the cage with her. He can be seen eating his own breakfast next to her, hoping she will take a cue from him and eat her own food.
It takes a while for Graycie to eat but she can be seen polishing off her kibble by the end of the video. She even licks the vet's hands in appreciation.
We hope Graycie feels better soon and other strays like her also find people like Dr Mathis to help them out.
