J Dey murder: Did bikers rehearse chase for a week?
Mumbai: After sources informed the police of having seen two bikes, racing through the spot in Powai where J Dey was shot dead, for four or five days in succession right before his murder last Saturday, the Mumbai Crime Branch is trying to find the bikers for questioning them.

Police investigations revealed that two Yamaha bikes were seen on a daily basis speeding around the spot near D Mart in Powai where the crime took place. According to witnesses, the bikes, each with two riders, were seen several times racing on the street in the days before the shootout, but were never spotted after that.

Sources said it seemed as if the bikers were practising running away from the place. Though police have not been able to glean any information about the bikers' identities, they have been trying to locate them for interrogation.  Police officials said that though it would not be appropriate to say that the bikers, who gave the impression that they were reconnoitering the place, killed Dey, they would investigate into the matter nonetheless.

"We cannot leave any angles uninvestigated. We are trying to trace the two Yamaha bikes with the four bikers so we can question them regarding the racing in the area in the days before the murder," a police official said.

The police got the information pertaining to the bikers from sources in the locality. They did not think that  the bikers were up to anything, but informed the police after the murder, cops said.
