18-year-old gangraped for 3 hours in Mumbai

Mumbai: An 18-year-old girl, who had gone to Pune to meet her online friend on Monday evening and returned to the city in the early hours yesterday, was raped by two unidentified persons for around three hours near Kalyan station.

According to the police, the girl, a resident of Dombivali, called up her boyfriend from the train to come and receive her at Kalyan station. She boarded Chennai Express from Pune around 11.30 pm and got down at the station around 2.30 am.

As per plan, she along with her boyfriend went to an isolated place near the station and
started chatting. When three passersby saw them getting cosy, they confronted them and scared away the boy. Two of them then took turns to rape the girl for around three hours.
According to the FIR, the girl had befriended the Pune boy through Internet. On Monday afternoon, she left home without informing her parents to see her Pune friend. She boarded a train from Dadar and reached Pune around 6 pm.

But her meeting with the Pune boy ended in a few minutes as the boy got worried when he got to know that she had come without informing her parents. After the meeting got over, she roamed about in the city till 11.30 pm.

Arun Jagtap, senior inspector of Kalyan GRP, said, "Her boyfriend received her at platform number 5. Later, they started walking out of the station premises. While they were chatting and getting cosy, the three passersby confronted them. The trio slapped the boy and threatened him with a sharp weapon. Fearing for his life, the boy fled the scene. The accused then took her to an isolated spot and raped her."

The GRP, Kalyan, have registered a gang rape case against three unknown persons. "We have forwarded the case to the Mahatmaphule police station as incident took place under their jurisdiction," said Jagtap.
