There's no denying the fact that Indian audience loves historical drama. With films like Padmaavat, Bajirao Mastani and Jodhaa Akbar acquiring huge box office success, expectations are high for Kangana Ranaut's upcoming film Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, which is based on the life of Rani Lakshmi Bai. Despite numerous controversies, the film seems to be gaining steady pace and is said to see an August release date.
Ever since a photograph of Kangana's look from the movie went viral, the fashion brigade can't seem to keep calm. Her regal look created by fashion designer Neeta Lulla is receiving great appreciation, and with every picture leaked on the Internet, fans are getting anxious to see more of the warrior queen. The Bollywood star was recently in Delhi for the launch of Neeta Lulla's flagship store in DLF Emporio Mall, and we asked her to throw more light on her Manikarnika look.

"The one thing I truly admire about Neeta is how effortlessly she fuses contemporary and traditional styles, giving the wearer the best of both the worlds. In Manikarnika, my look is traditional yet contemporary. There are many shades of Manikarnika. When she is married, she is in a happy space and her outfits are more regal. Then she transforms into a warrior queen and the look changes," said Kangana Ranaut.
Neeta Lulla also shared that it took her six months to create Kangana's costumes for the movie. For her character, she has used a lot of khadi and woven textures like brocade and paithani, sourced mostly from Varanasi, Jaipur and Maharashtra. The intricate embroidery detailing have been done by various local artisans. Neeta credited Kangana for her beautiful portray of the warrior queen, bringing in power and rage to the character.
The film is being directed by Telugu director Radhakrishna Jagarlamudi (Krish) and also stars Ankita Lokhande, Sonu Sood, Atul Kulkarni and Jisshu Sengupta in important roles.
