No matter who you are or how important your place in the world, we're all the same, when it comes to mom. Or our significant others. Case in point being Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds, whose recent Instagram posts made us giggle and go 'awww', purely for how relatable they are to our own plebeian lives. On a day when social media was overflowing with romance, with celebrities went all out making mushy announcements of love, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively gave us couple goals with their cheeky posts and subsequent trolling.
Most recently, Ryan posted a photograph of himself in the gym air-typing into a non-existent phone. Once we could tear our eyes away from the vision he presented in his workout gear - dove-grey tracks and t-shirt - we turned to the caption accompanying the photo. And it is pure gold.
"Ten minutes in to writing an email to my mom, when I realized there was no phone in my hand," wrote Reynolds. Sounds about right. There's something about moms that can put the fear of god and make anyone act like fumbling, absent-minded idiots, isn't there?
If that wasn't cute enough, wife Blake Lively used this as an opportunity to troll her husband. Blake quickly commented on the post, saying, "Why won't this damn app swipe right?!?!!"
Not one to be outdone, Ryan quickly responded with, "Because it's the E-harmony app."
But Blake was not willing to concede defeat just yet. She shot back with, "Can you show me how to download that? Ever since Ashley Madison closed I've been so lonely"
Obviously outwitted, Ryan exited the trolling war with an, "Awww. Happy Valentine's Day."
The only way this exchange could get any better is if the senior Mrs Reynolds decided to weigh in on her son's ruminations.
This isn't the first time Blake and Ryan have trolled each other on social media. The couple is known for cheekily and mercilessly taking each other's case on Twitter and Instagram.
Last year, on Blake's 30th birthday in August, Ryan posted a photograph of the two of them, with Blake almost entirely cropped out of it, to wish her a happy birthday.
In retaliation, two months later, on Ryan's 41st birthday in October, Blake posted a photograph of her husband with Ryan Gosling, almost entirely cropping Reynolds out of the picture, this time. Ouch.
What makes Blake's post an edge over Reynolds' is the fact that the two Ryans, both from Canada, often get mistaken for each other; a longstanding joke in Hollywood.
In November, Ryan trolled Blake by posting an unkempt, unmade up photograph of Blake while filming The Rhythm Section in Ireland, captioning it #nofilter.
In December, Blake posted a photograph of sloppy, broken cookies - Ryan's failed attempts at baking - captioning it, "@vancityreynolds made some Christmas cookies... He's verrry handsome though."
Clearly, being married with two kids together doesn't afford them immunity from each other's sarcastic quips.
Just a few hours before the hilarious exchange over Ryan's imaginary phone, he posted a photograph holding up a heart-shaped strawberry cake for Blake, ostensibly to celebrate Valentine's Day. But his caption read, "I baked this cake for my wife. The icing is glue, 'cause I'm not a scientist."
We feel you, Ryan, we feel you. We've all been there - trying to cook something for our loved one only to have it turn out as a goopy, inedible mess. At least your cake *looks* good, this time, unlike the cookies disaster in December.
Even if you're not a celebrity-crazy person, you have to admit, the Reynolds-Lively pair is giving the world some serious couple goals.
