The Oscars of the fashion world - the Met Gala 2018 - is here! Like previous galas, this year too is expected to be a star-studded event with the theme being "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination." Founded by publicist Eleanor Lambert, The Costume Institute Gala at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art is the biggest fundraising event on the fashion calendar, where famous celebrities from the world of fashion, movies, music and art come together to raise money and celebrate the grand opening of its latest exhibition.
Scheduled to start at 7 PM on 7th May, this year Amal Clooney, Rihanna and Donatella Versace would be co-hosting the gala alongside Anna Wintour. In the past, the by invite-only guest list have included names like Beyonce, Kim Kardashian, Gigi Hadid, Serena Williams, Madonna and Kendall Jenner to name just a few. Last year, we also saw two Bollywood celebrities (who are now international icons) making their debut at the Met Gala - Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone.
As per reports, this year too Priyanka and Deepika would be attending the Met Gala, and we are eagerly looking forward to find out what outfits would they be wearing, keeping in sync with the theme of the event. Here's a quick throwback of their looks for last year's Met Gala:
Priyanka Chopra made heads turn with her traffic stopping trench coat dress designed by Ralph Lauren. The dramatic outfit was a tribute to the last year's theme - Rei Kawakubo (Comme des Garcons), who is one of the most influential designers in the fashion world. She had teamed it with a pair of black boots and statement earrings.
Deepika Padukone played it safe by wearing a white satin gown with embellishments from Tommy Hilfiger Collection Gowns. The backless cut no doubt worked wonders to make Deepika look stunning, as well as the embellished hair accessory, but she was criticized by many for not following the theme.
These year we really hope these Bollywood beauties go all out to make a grand entrance at the Met Gala. Stay tuned for more.
