Try These Functional Exercises Because Of Their Benefits
1. Lat Pull Down
For this exercise, you need to sit comfortably at a lat pull-down machine with your knees securely positioned under the pads. Grasp the bar with an overhand grip, slightly wider than shoulder-width apart and pull the bar down towards your chest by engaging your lat muscles and slowly release the bar to its initial position. The benefits of lat pull down include improving upper body strength, enhancing posture and helping prevent back pain.
2. Step Ups
For step ups, stand in front of a sturdy bench, a step, or a tire. Step up onto the platform with one foot, ensuring the entire foot is on the surface. Lift your body and bring the other foot onto the platform. Similarly step back down, leading with the same foot that you stepped up with. Its benefits include building strength in the quadriceps, hamstrings, and glutes, thus improving balance and stability.
3. Bar Swing
You can hold a barbell with an overhand grip, hands shoulder width apart. Then hinge at the hips, keeping your back straight, and swing the bar between your legs. Thrust the hips forward, swinging the bar up to shoulder height. The benefits of bar swings include enhancing power and coordination as they engage multiple muscle groups including the core, glutes and shoulders.
4. Lunges
You need to stand with your feet hip-width apart. Take a step forward with one foot, lowering your body until both knees are bent at a 90-degree angle. Then push back up to the starting position and repeat with the other leg. Lunges target the quadriceps, hamstrings, and glutes and improve balance, stability, and flexibility.
These exercises offer a range of benefits, from building strength and improving posture to enhancing cardiovascular health and overall functionality. Thus, take inspiration from Soha Ali Khan and begin your week with these exercises. Do not forget to consult a professional trainer before starting a workout routine.
