The curtains on Lakme Fashion Week's Winter Festive 2018 edition may have dropped last night but there are still so many moments from the fashion fiesta that we haven't talked about. You may think that the event is solely about celebrity showstoppers and glitzy fashion but there's a lot more to it. These 4 moments are some of them. They heightened the experience and made Lakme Fashion Week 2018 one we won't forget for a long time.
1. Traditional Fusion
We've seen dances, especially traditional Indian ones take place on the runway. But this one was different. To the tune of the hit Despacito, transgender Bharatanatyam dancer Narthaki Nataraj from Tamil Nadu showed us her incredible skills and gave the song an ethnic twist.
2. Gender Bending
A bright spotlight was shone on gender neutrality this season. From the dichotomous representation of male and female to an entire segment dedicated to the clothing type with brands like The Pot Plant and Anaam, it's fair to say that gender was another barrier that was broken at the event.
3. Ballet Fusion
It seems like international - Indian fusion seems to be all the rage; even on the ramp at Lakme Fashion Week. Gaurang's retro themed show came to a close with a graceful ballet dance by Pia Sutaria to the tune of a melodious Hindi hit.
4. Superb Setups
It isn't only the models and garments that steal the show at fashion week. Larger-than-life sets and installations do that as well. Smartwater's set up of cotton clouds with sparkling raindrops was magnificent and so was Surendri's installation of women at their casual best. Of course, the Cirque Du Soleil preview at the Grand Finale was the cherry on the cake that proved setting is everything, even in a fashion show.
And that brings to a close another eventful season of Lakme Fashion Week.
