It is International Cat Day 2023, a day observed every year on August 8 to celebrate the felines in our lives. The day also encourages “cat owners to take five minutes a day to play with their cats to improve their physical health and mental wellbeing,” as per the official website of International Cat Day. Cats can be an aloof bundle of fur but you can't deny that they are also super cute. We've decided to take a look at the famous cats around the world to celebrate the special day.

1. Nala

Nala, the ultimate cat superstar, reigns as Instagram's ruler with 4.5 million followers, earning her a Guinness World Record for the most followers for a cat. Guess what? Nala is not just about fame – she's also got her own cat food brand by the name of Love Nala.

2. Choupette

Karl Lagerfeld had a furry companion named Choupette, a blue-cream tortie Birman cat. Even after Karl's passing in 2019, Choupette continues to shine as a model, striking poses for various photoshoots. Rumour has it that this stylish cat lives a luxurious existence and may have even inherited a bit of Karl's fortune, adding a touch of glamour to its already fabulous life.

3. Larry

Don't underestimate cats as mere companions for cuddles and play. Meet Larry, the British domestic tabby with a mission. Since 2011, he has taken on a pivotal role as Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office at 10 Downing Street, proving that cats can also be dedicated protectors in unexpected places.
