1. The Howrah Bridge was the longest cantilever bridge at the time of its construction and currently is the sixth-longest bridge of its type in the world. It spans over the Hooghly River in West Bengal.

2. In 1965, the bridge was renamed Rabindra Setu after the great Bengali poet Rabindranath Tagore. It is still popularly known as the Howrah Bridge.

3. With a height of 23 metres, it carries a daily traffic of approximately 1,00,000 vehicles and more than 1,50,000 pedestrians, making it the busiest cantilever bridge in the world.

4. This popular bridge in Kolkata was built without the use of a single nut and screw to put together the huge structure of the bridge.

5. The bridge has been a prominent one and has been featured in numerous films, such as Do Bigha Zamin, China Town, Amar Prem and many more.
