Ananya Panday On Her Sneaker Obsession And Having Fun With Fashion

In the style sphere, there's nothing that Ananya Panday says no to. Whether it's printed swimsuits in Maldives or 90s fashion in Los Angeles, there isn't a trend that this Bollywood actress hasn't tried. And that's from the top of her head to her tip of her toes as well because not many know that Ananya is quite the sneaker head with massive collection that's very hard for her to pick and choose from. NDTV Swirlster spoke to Ananya on having a blast while dressing up and swapping heels for sneakers on the red carpet.

NDTV Swirlster: How many sneakers do you own and which one is your favourite pair?

Ananya Panday: I'm too embarrassed to count! My favourite ones are literally any pair from the D'Lites collection because every single one of them have a funky and youthful vibe and the styles are so distinct. There's a sneaker for my every mood.

NDTV Swirlster: Your style advice for wearing sneakers with dresses and skirts?

Ananya Panday: I don't believe in trends. I believe in being yourself and being comfortable in what you're wearing and having fun while you are at it. I, for one, love wearing sneakers and skirts or dresses. Just have fun, don't think too much - it's all about experimenting.

NDTV Swirlster: Why do you believe the Skechers "Original Keep Moving Campaign" is pertinent especially in times like these?

Ananya Panday: The campaign is all about being yourself and going with the flow despite the odds. In a time like this it's important to keep telling ourselves that this too shall pass, we should keep moving and that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

NDTV Swirlster: Would you dare wear sneakers on the red carpet the next time you attend a celebrity event?

Ananya Panday: A hundred percent! I'm the most comfortable in my sneakers. In fact, even when I wear heels, I am always carrying a pair of sneakers with me because they're my comfort haven.

NDTV Swirlster: How has the pandemic changed your personal sense of style?

Ananya Panday: I'm only switching between my night suits and work out gear! There's no in-between.

Ananya Panday: The latest launches are essentially cool chunky sneakers with an exciting splash of colours that I feel are very expressive and bright. I would love to mix these chunky, colourful sneakers with some boyfriend jeans and cute crop tops.

NDTV Swirlster: What are your celebrity tips to make a casual outfit red carpet ready?

Ananya Panday: It's all about confidence and comfort in what you're wearing. As long as you're happy, your outfit and personality will shine through. That always shows.

NDTV Swirlster: One iconic red carpet fashion moment you wish you could have been in?

Ananya Panday: I feel like everyone was having so much fun in whatever they were wearing in the award functions from the 80's and 90's. Everyone had a distinct original style and it was all about experimenting.

NDTV Swirlster: What are your fashion tips to glam up sneakers?

Ananya Panday: A personal favourite is always to mix and match laces. For example, exchange the white laces with colourful laces from another pair of sneakers. That is a really cool way to personalize any pair of sneakers you own and put your personal touch on it.
