The feeling of walking out of the salon with big, bouncy locks makes every girl feel like a celebrity - it's almost as if there's a red carpet rolled out and cameras clicking. So it can be heartbreaking when, hours later, your voluminous tresses begin to fall flat. Lucky for you, it's possible to breathe life into your blow dry for a little longer - all you need is the right hair care hacks.
1. Pin it up
The trouble starts when your strands come in contact with moist surfaces like sweaty necks and freshly washed hands. This will immediately drive moisture through the length and cause it to fall flat. When indoors, loosely pin your hair up with a banana clip to retain its styling and prevent moisture.
2. Shampoo it
No, don't step into a shower for this step - turn to a dry shampoo. The scalp's natural sebum can break down the flawless styling of a blow dry. To remedy this, spritz a dry shampoo at key points of your crown, above your temples and near your nape to soak up oiliness with ease.
3. Sleep on silk
With a fresh blow-out, even sleeping can seem like an activity that will weigh down your locks. To prevent that from happening, sleep on a silk pillowcase. It will prevent static from making your hair frizzy and ensure that it stays smooth all through the night.
4. Refresh your ends
Even if your hair ends catch the slightest bit of moisture or oil, it can spread upwards and ruin the whole blow dry. While it will pick up moisture naturally through the course of the day, give it a refresh and stop it in its tracks. For ends of your layers and a fringe, spritz it with some water and re-dry it so that it gets some bounce.
5. Stop the sweat
The biggest enemy of a perfectly finished blow dry is sweat. To prevent it from affecting your 'do, keep your body temperature as cool as possible and prevent sweating. Even pinning your hair up will do only till a certain extent so drink cold water, use well ventilated rooms and sleep with the air conditioning on to prevent any night sweats.
