3 Things To Never Say To Someone Going Through A Breakup
Don't say anything patronising to a friend going through a breakup, for sure

When someone is going through a breakup, it is needless to say that they are having a rough time. No matter how much time the relationship lasted, or how it ended, breakups feel like a major chunk of your life has been torn off and there is only an emptiness there. Apart from comprehending what has happened, there is also this looking around to figure out what to do with this new void in your life. All in all, not a pretty picture.

But this is the time when we bank on our friends, family, and all the other aspects of our life. They are the reason we make it through, yet again. But even as a friend of someone going through a breakup, we must remember to be sensitive, caring, and careful. Careful not just about their needs but our actions and words, considering how sensitive they are at the moment. Keeping that in mind, here are a few things you just must not say to someone going through a breakup.

"You will find someone else"

No. This one is an absolute, and a big NO! You might think that is exactly what they want to hear but it is far from it. Finding someone else is probably the last thing on their mind. This is the time you need to encourage singlehood as they heal themselves. Don't talk about dating again just yet. Let them grieve.

"Get over him already, he wasn't worth it"

As a friend, your job is to be supportive - NOT to tell them that their choice of man was wrong and that they are being stupid to be sad and broken over this breakup. Let them take their own time to deal with the pain and get over this. As long as they need.

"I wish I were single!"

If these words come out of your mouth, you might as well pack your bags and move out of the country because you just lost your BFF. The last thing they want is to be patronized, or you telling them about how great or not your relationship is.
