The Board has fixed the eligibility criteria for TET in state aided primary schools. As per the decision taken by the Board only those candidates who have completed year teachers' training programme along with scoring at least 50 per cent marks in Higher Secondary examination will be allowed for TET.
Education minister Partha Chatterjee told reporters here, "I have urged the Primary Education Board to issue a notification after the Board office opens on October 9 stipulating the two conditions as per the guidelines mentioned by the Department of School Education, Government of West Bengal."
As of now no other change has been declared by the Board. Taking the eligibility criteria set for WB TET 2017 into consideration, applicants will have to choose any one of the following languages as first language : Bengali, Hindi, Urdu, Nepali, Santhali, Oriya and Telugu. The choice will be on the basis of the medium of instruction in the school. The second language for all is English.
