Man bludgeoned to death for mobile phone

Jaipur: A 21-year-old boy was allegedly murdered by another man in a public park in Jaipur, police said on Friday.

Ranjit, a resident of Dudu town in the district, was found critically injured in the park in Adarsh Nagar area on Friday morning, police said.

He succumbed to his injuries later in the day in a hospital, police said.

Ranjit was sleeping in the park on Thursday night when one Ajay, who had also gone to the park to sleep, saw him and planned to rob him of his mobile phone, the police said.

The culprit allegedly hit Ranjit with a heavy stone and decamped with his mobile phone.

During patrolling, police detained Ajay late Thursday night while he was roaming in a suspicious state near Transport Nagar.

"He was interrogated today and he confessed to the crime," the police said.
