Investigations revealed that the car was being driven by a 17-year-old minor at the time of the accident. Following the incident, Tulinj police filed a delayed FIR against three people, including car owner Rajesh Shah and primary driver Mahesh Naik, for allowing a minor to get behind the wheel.
Relatives of the victims strongly objected to how the case was handled, accusing the police of delaying the registration of the FIR. They also alleged that the car was being used to carry boxes of illicit liquor at the time of the crash.
Police have not issued any official statement on these allegations regarding the vehicle's cargo.
