Today Weather, IMD Alert in Delhi-NCR, UP, Rajasthan Live News: Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 38.9 degrees Celsius on Sunday, 0.3 notches above the seasonal average, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

The minimum temperature on Sunday morning was 28.8 degrees Celsius, 0.8 notches above the seasonal average, the IMD said.

The weather department predicted rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, with maximum and minimum temperatures expected to reach 38 and 27 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Weather Updates LIVE: Heavy Rain Likely In 5 Tamil Nadu Districts Today, Thunderstorms Forecast

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Chennai, has forecast heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds in five districts of Tamil Nadu on Monday, as a cyclonic circulation persists over parts of south India.

According to the weather department, a cyclonic circulation is prevailing over Rayalaseema and adjoining areas at an altitude of 3.1 km to 4.5 km above mean sea level.

The system is expected to influence weather conditions across several parts of Tamil Nadu over the next few days. The RMC has predicted heavy rain at isolated places in the hill areas of Coimbatore district and in the districts of Nilgiris, Dindigul, Theni and Sivaganga.

Delhi-NCR Rain Alert Live: Rain Likely In Delhi

Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 27.3 degrees Celsius on Monday, with the weather office predicting rain and thunderstorms.

Safdarjung, the city's base station, recorded 27.3 degrees Celsius, 0.7 notches below the season's average, according to data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Among the city's weather stations, Palam recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 24.7 degrees Celsius, followed by Ridge at 24.6 degrees Celsius and Ayanagar at 25.3 degrees Celsius. Lodhi Road logged a minimum temperature of 26.6 degrees Celsius.

No rainfall was recorded in any of the major weather stations in Delhi till 8.30 am on Monday, according to the IMD data.

Rains lashed parts of the city for the second consecutive day, bringing much-needed relief from the heat and humidity. Overcast skies and a cool breeze made the morning pleasant across the metropolis.

The southwest monsoon generally reaches Mumbai around June 10, but its onset has been delayed this year. While the monsoon advanced into south Konkan earlier this month, its further progress was stalled due to unfavourable weather conditions.

On Monday morning, showers, accompanied by thunder, lashed several parts of the city, leading to reduced visibility and affecting traffic movement at some locations, officials said.

Light rainfall on Sunday brought respite from prolonged heat in several parts of Goa ahead of a two-day heavy rainfall alert starting Monday.

Light showers were witnessed in parts of Sattari, Canacona and Tiswadi talukas, while the capital city of Panaji also received rainfall.

According to the India Meteorological Department bulletin on Saturday, the average temperature in Goa was around 34 degrees Celsius, which is four degrees above normal in Panaji, and humidity was at 70 per cent.

Heavy rain is expected over Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Theni, Dindigul, Kanyakumari and Ghat areas of Tirunelveli districts from Sunday due to the intensifying southwest monsoon, IMD sources said.

The latest weather report from the Regional Meteorological Centre on Sunday said that the rain is likely to continue till Monday over these places.

The data further said that there is a fall in maximum temperatures during the day from June 22 to June 24 over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and the Karaikal area.

After an unusually delayed onset of the southwest monsoon, parts of Mumbai received light to moderate showers on Sunday morning, offering some respite to people from the prevailing heat and humidity.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated favourable conditions for further advancement of the southwest monsoon over parts of Maharashtra.

The monsoon reached South Konkan earlier this month, but its further advance has remained stalled due to unfavourable weather conditions.
