Burdwan: CPI(M) Politburo member and Rajya Sabha lawmaker Mohammed Salim claimed his car and a bus carrying party rallyists, came under attack by ruling Trinamool Congress supporters at Ketugram in Burdwan district today afternoon.

The senior Marxist told media they were returning after a local 'jatha' (rally) taken out in Katwa-Ketugram area when some Trinamool supporters hurled bricks at the vehicles, injuring some CPI(M) supporters in the bus.

Mr Salim, however, clarified he himself was not hurt in the incident and the attackers left the spot shortly after brickbatting.

Meanwhile, Burdwan SP Kunal Agarwal said after hearing something happened in Ketugram he inquired with the local police but no complaint was lodged by the CPI(M) about any such attack.

"Still I asked the OC to check with local CPI(M) leadership again but they (local CPIM) said no police complaint is being filed," Mr Agarwal said.

Trinamool Birbhum president and party's Ketugram-Katwa observer Anubrata Mondal claimed ignorance about any such attack by his party men and asserted "I have no knowledge about such incident.

"But still if any TMC leader's name is given by them we will take appropriate action," Mr Mondal added.
