Meerut:
Sugarcane farmers in Meerut and Muzzafarnagar are on a rampage. They have blocked the NH-68 connecting Dehradun to Delhi in at least 10 places between Meerut and Muzzafarnagar.
The rail route has also been affected as the Shalimar Express has been stopped at the Meerut station.
Farmers are protesting against the recently fixed Rs 130 /per quintal sugarcane procurement price by the Centre.
They are demanding that the price be scaled up to at least Rs 170 per quintal.
Led by RLD, most farmers are out to honour a protest call made by Ajit Singh's party against the fixing of prices by the Centre.
