Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir:
Students of the Government Science College clashed with the police in Jammu. The students were protesting against the recent "fixed salary mode" system set up by the state government.
As per this new directive government employees will get just 50 per cent of their basic salary for the first two years of their service, with no allowances, and for the next three years 75 per cent of basic salary without any allowances.
The students are alleging that such a move is discriminatory. They are protesting against the move because they consider themselves as prospective government employees for the future.
