Stock Market Highlights: Indian benchmark indices resumed their decline on Thursday as a fresh surge in oil prices (Brent crude over $100) prompted more investors to tap out. At the close, Sensex shed 800 points to settle at 76,066, while Nifty50 ended at 23,640, losing 220 points.

While markets recovered losses by noon, a sharp sell-off prompted a drop again before the closing bell. Biggest Nifty losers were Eicher Motors, M&M, Maruti Suzuki, Bajaj Finance, UltraTech Cement, while gainers included Coal India, Jio Financial, Adani Enterprises, NTPC, Power Grid Corp. Among sectors, Auto index slipped more than 3 per cent, FMCG index shed 1.7 per cent and Private Bank index declined 1.6 per cent, while Power index gained 2.5 per cent, Energy index rose 2 per cent, Oil & Gas, Metal, Capital Goods rose 0.5 per cent each. Sachin Janardan Sarvade, AVP Technical & Derivatives, Retail Research, IDBI Capital Markets and Securities Limited

As of 12:45 pm, the Nifty 50 witnessed sharp selling pressure but showed signs of stabilising near the 61.8 per cent Fibonacci retracement level of the previous up move from 21,743 to the all-time high of 26,373. The index rebounded slightly from this key support zone around 23,500-23,700, indicating the possibility of a short-term technical bounce.

Momentum indicators also support this view, with the RSI slipping into the oversold zone, suggesting that selling may be overstretched in the near term. From the derivatives perspective, the PCR stands at 0.72, while Max Pain is placed near 23,850, which could act as a near-term pullback zone.

As long as Nifty sustains above 23,500 on a closing basis, a technical rebound toward the 23,800-24,000 zone may be seen in the short term. However, a breakdown below this level could extend the corrective phase.

Check Nidhi Sharma's analysis:-

Maruti Suzuki: Market share recovery could drive a re-rating. Despite recent underperformance due to weaker wholesale numbers and a soft 3Q, retail demand remains strong across cars and UVs. Capacity expansion from Apr'26 and a strong launch pipeline, including new Brezza variants and e-Vitara, are expected to support growth.

Mrs Bectors Food: Growth is likely to be driven by the expansion of the English Oven brand and rising export demand.

Internet: Commercial LPG shortages may disrupt restaurant operations due to limited inventory buffers, potentially impacting food delivery order volumes in the near term.

'Commercial LPG Supply Disruptions May Temporarily Impact Food Delivery Volumes'

Stock market observer Nidhi Sharma said, "Commercial LPG supplies have tightened across several cities due to disruptions in shipments passing through the Strait of Hormuz, leading to delivery delays for restaurants. India consumes around 28-30 MMT of LPG annually, with nearly 55-60 per cent met through imports, largely from the Middle East. Restaurants typically maintain only 2-6 days of LPG inventory, making them vulnerable to short-term supply disruptions. If shortages persist through March, some outlets may reduce menus, limit cooking hours, or temporarily halt operations. This could affect food delivery platforms such as Zomato and Swiggy, potentially causing a temporary slowdown in order volumes despite improving growth trends in recent quarters."
