Prime Minister to announce Integrated Action Plan for Naxal-hit areas
New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will announce the Integrated Action Plan for Naxal-hit tribal areas. For this he will meet District Magistrates of 60 Naxal-hit districts on Tuesday. These areas are slated to get Rs 3,300 crore in 2 years.

The Integrated Action Plan (IAP) was announced in 2010. The idea behind IAP was to allow district magistrates to quickly implement public infrastructure projects and services that would have "discernible" impact in the Left Wing Extremism (LWE) districts.

But the success of IAP will be reviewed tomorrow at the conference. The idea is to work out a better monitoring mechanism for the IAP which is currently  monitored by the Planning Commission.

For 2010-2011- a sum of Rs 25 crore were given to district magistrates and collectors to spend on the region and for 2011-2012 Rs 35 crore was allocated. In total Rs 33,000 crore in total has been sanctioned by the government.
