Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Unveil Dr APJ Abdul Kalam's Statue

Around 6,000 students created a paper filigree of former President of India Dr APJ Abdul Kalam to mark his 84th birth anniversary at their school premises in Chennai.


New Delhi:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil a statue of late former president Dr APJ Abdul Kalam on Thursday to mark his 84th birth anniversary.

"Glad to join Dr Kalam's birth anniversary celebrations, which includes unveiling of his statue and photo exhibition," Mr Modi tweeted.

A photo exhibition titled as "A Celebration of Dr Kalam's Life" will also be inaugurated by Mr Modi at DRDO Bhavan in New Delhi.

Mr Kalam, who died in July, was a career scientist, before becoming India's 11th president, holding office from 2002 to 2007.
