PM Narendra Modi Addresses North Eastern Council In Shillong: Highlights

Shillong: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a North Eastern Council meeting in Shillong today which was attended by Governors and Chief Ministers of all north eastern states.

Here are the highlights of his speech:

• The council should focus on issues of livelihood, skill development and entrepreneurship
• All this will help in generating jobs
• We are trying to reduce isolation of the region by improving connectivity through road, rail, telecom, power and waterway
• If other regions can develop, I see no reason why northeast can't
• The north east is very important for us
• We have to treat this region at par with other developed regions
• States that are strong and want to go further need to be given adequate opportunities
• States that are not so strong need to be given assistance
