Recent Events in Gujarat Have Pained the Nation, Says PM in 'Mann ki Baat'

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said the entire nation has been pained by the recent violence in Gujarat following the reservation agitation.

Following are the highlights of his 'Mann ki Baat' radio programme:

  • 17.74 lakh bank accounts opened by poor under Jan Dhan Yojana and Rs 22,000 crore deposited in them
  • The events of Gujarat have anguished the nation. People will feel shocked if this happens in land of Gandhi and Sardar Patel
  • In a very short time, people in Gujarat were able to control the violence that cropped up a few days back
  • Peace has again prevailed in Gujarat
  • I am happy to go to Bodh Gaya for a Buddhist conference
  • It is a matter of immense pleasure that I am getting an opportunity to visit Bodh Gaya in the company of Buddhist scholars
  • Every voice is important but the voice of the farmer is extremely significant
  • Government is open to any suggestion in the interest of farmers
  • Every voice is important to me but farmers voice is special to me
  • There are many rumors being spread about Land Acquisition Bill, farmers have been scared. We do not want that
