PM Modi to Flag Off 'Run for Unity' Today on Sardar Vallabhbhai  Patel's Birth Anniversary

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the 'Run For Unity' at Rajpath in Delhi on 140th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel today. The day is being celebrated across the country as 'Rashtriya Ekta Diwas' (National Unity Day).

The Prime Minister paid floral tributes at Sardar Patel statue on Parliament Street at 7.30 am.

The prime minister will soon address the people assembled at Rajpath for the "Run For Unity" and administer the pledge of unity to the assembled gathering, it added.

PM Modi will then flag off the 'Run For Unity' from the lawns of Vijay Chowk around 8.15 am.

The participation is voluntary and a large number of people including school-children and sports persons are expected to join the 'Run for Unity', the statement added.

On the eve of the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, the pledge of National Unity was administered at many offices of the Government of India in New Delhi on Friday.

Celebrations are also being organised in states which Union Ministers would be attending at different places.
