Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the Ganga Expressway in the presence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Covering a distance of 594 km, it is the longest expressway in UP and has been built with an investment of Rs 36,320 crore. With six lanes, connecting 12 districts, it stands among India's biggest greenfield road projects. Inaugurated following the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, the new route connects Meerut and Prayagraj. Ganga Expressway: Speed Limit
This six-lane, access-controlled highway can expand to eight lanes and supports speeds up to 120 kmph, India's highest permissible limit. To ensure enforcement and adherence to the speed limit, the expressway is equipped with high-definition CCTV cameras. Travellers are advised to stay within the limit for a safe journey.

Are Motorcycles Allowed on the Ganga Expressway?
Two-wheelers are strictly banned on the newly inaugurated expressway. The authorities will have round-the-clock surveillance on the access-controlled corridor to ensure safety and maintain a high-speed journey.

Ganga Expressway Route And Cities Covered, Travel Time
Stretching from Meerut to Prayagraj, the expressway passes through 12 districts: Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Budaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh, and Prayagraj. It links Western UP's industrial hubs with eastern agricultural areas, fostering balanced growth. Travel time between endpoints drops from 10-12 hours to 6-8 hours.

Ganga Expressway Toll
The six-lane expressway has two toll plazas. The first toll is located near Bijauli village in Meerut. The second and the last one are located near Judapur Dandu Village in Soraon tehsil of Prayagraj. This plaza at the end of the e-way has been developed with 16 lanes to ensure smooth movement of vehicles and control the flow of traffic.

Key Features
Designed as a multi-purpose corridor, it integrates manufacturing zones, logistics parks, warehousing, and agro-processing tailored to local strengths. A standout element is the 3.5-km airstrip in Shahjahanpur for emergency fighter landings, adding defence value. It connects to the Yamuna Expressway, Agra-Lucknow Expressway, Jewar Link, Noida International Airport, and proposed Haridwar extensions.

Economic Impact
Uttar Pradesh plans 12 Integrated Manufacturing and Logistics Clusters on 6,507 acres along the route. Officials report 987 investment proposals worth Rs 47,000 crore already. Real estate experts predict 20-50 per cent land value rises near the corridor, especially in Meerut, Prayagraj, and Ghaziabad, driven by better links to airports and metros. The project bridges west UP with east, potentially reshaping regional development through industry and jobs.
