Parliament Monsoon Session Day 16 Live Updates: The proceedings of Lok Sabha has been adjourned till 4:00 pm. Meanwhile, the proceedings of Rajya Sabha has resumed. 

Earlier, the proceedings had resumed after INDIA bloc leaders including Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge were detained by Delhi police over their protest march to Election Commission of India (ECI).

Earlier in the day also, the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned till 2:00 pm amid protests by opposition over Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar and other issues.

"We Will Pass Important Bills": Kiren Rijiju Amid Protest By Opposition

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Monday lashed out at the Congress-led opposition for the repeated disruptions in Parliament, and said the government will now proceed with the passage of important bills in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha.

Addressing a press conference here, Rijiju said the Congress and other opposition parties have already wasted a lot of time of parliamentary proceeding.

"Every day, we will not allow the country's and Parliament's time to be wasted on one issue. Therefore, we will pass important bills," the minister said.

Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal on Monday said that INDIA bloc leaders, including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, were detained by Delhi Police during a peaceful protest march to the Election Commission of India and called it a "desperate attempt to silence the opposition." 

"We were holding a peaceful march to the ECI office, but the police has detained all of us, including INC President Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and hundreds of INDIA bloc leaders. This is nothing but a desperate attempt to silence the opposition on this burning issue of saving democracy from mass rigging. Such intimidation will not work for us, and we will continue to fight for the people's inalienable right to vote," Venugopal wrote on X.

"Fight Is To Protect Democracy, Constitution": Rahul Gandhi

Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi called the INDIA bloc leaders' march to Election Commission as a "fight to save the Constitution" and demanded a "pure" voters list.

"Today, when we were going to meet the Election Commission, all the MPs of the INDIA alliance were stopped and taken into custody. The truth of 'vote chori' is now in front of the country. This fight is not political - it is a fight to protect democracy, the Constitution and the right of 'one person, one vote'. The united opposition and every voter of the country demand a clean voter list. And, we will get this right," Gandhi said in a post on X in Hindi.

"BJP's Dictatorship Will Not Work": Mallikarjun Kharge

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday said the protest against 'vote chori' and Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is a fight to protect people's right to vote.

His remarks came as top opposition leaders were stopped from taking out a march to the Election Commission office to protest against the  SIR exercise in Bihar.

In a post on X, he said, "BJP's cowardly dictatorship will not work. This is a fight to protect the people's right to vote. This is a struggle to save democracy." 

"The allies of the INDIA coalition will surely expose this BJP conspiracy to shred the Constitution," Kharge said in his post in Hindi.

Rahul Gandhi, 300 INDIA Bloc MPs To Protest Over Bihar Voter Roll Revision

Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, will lead a protest march of around 300 MPs from the INDIA bloc to the Election Commission of India (ECI) headquarters in New Delhi today.

The march will begin at 11:30 am from Parliament House and will cover approximately one kilometre to the Election Commission office. The demonstration is being held to oppose the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar and to raise concerns over alleged electoral malpractices.

However, the Delhi Police clarified that no permission has been sought so far for the proposed march by the INDIA Bloc from Parliament to the Election Commission.

In the notice, Tagore wrote, "Over 1,00,000 fraudulent votes were allegedly added to the electoral rolls-far exceeding the margin of victory in the Bangalore Central Lok Sabha seat. Specific irregularities cited include: 11,965 duplicate voter entries, 40,009 entries with non-existent or implausible addresses, 10,452 voters registered at a handful of impossible addresses, 4,132 entries with invalid or missing photographs 33,692 senior citizens registered as "new voters" through suspicious use of Form 6."
