Nitish announces two-day mourning in Bihar

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today condoled the death of Bhairon Singh Shekhawat saying he was a popular leader on good terms with leaders of all parties.
     
"In his death, we have lost a popular leader who enjoys relations with all political parties.... Shekhawat has always believed in good coordination", Kumar said in his condolence message.
   
He announced state mourning for two days in respect of the departed leader.
    
RJD supremo Lalu Prasad and his wife Rabri Devi also condoled the death of Shekhawat saying "We have lost a leader of great stature".
    
"His death has caused irreparable harm and created a vaccum in politics", Prasad said.
    
"Shekhawat was an eminent and distinguished figure who rendered services of the highest quality", he said.
    
Prasad said Shekhawat performed "extremely well" as Vice President and Chairman of Rajya Sabha.
     
Deputy Chief Minister S K Modi and state health minister N K Yadav, besides state BJP chief C P Thakur also condoled his death.
