Mumbai: Cops dance to don's tunes?

Mumbai: Cops dance to don's tunes?
Mumbai: In what may turn out to be a major embarrassment for the Mumbai police, some officers of the crime branch were allegedly seen dancing with underworld dons at a Christmas party.

What's  more, the party was thrown by D K Rao, believed to be gangster Chota Rajan's right hand man. D K Rao was recently released from jail after spending 13 years on charges of extortion and murder. The police has now ordered an inquiry.

Dancing to a track from a popular film based on the underworld are gangsters D K Rao and Fahid Tanasha.

But what's likely to make this party an embarrassment for the Mumbai police is allegations that at least three police officers including an Assistant Police Commissioner were also present matching step for step with underworld don Chota Rajan's henchmen.

The Christmas party that took place at a suburban club in Mumbai has already left the police in a tizzy that has now ordered an inquiry.

Speaking to NDTV, Additional Commissioner of Police, Deven Bharti said: "We are investigation the clips. They seem genuine but prima facie no policemen can be seen."

This is not the first time the Mumbai police officials have been in the dock for their close links with gangsters.

Encounter specialists like Pradeep Sharma is among many crime branch officials who face allegations of links with the underworld.

But more visual proof of this blatant camaraderie will further dent the image of a force that's barely recovered from its 26/11 debacle.
