Maintain Preparedness At 'Disputed Borders': Army Chief Dalbir Singh Suhag

New Delhi: Army chief General Dalbir Singh Suhag said on Monday that vigil and operational preparedness need to be maintained along "disputed borders".

Addressing top commanders of the Indian Army at the Army Commanders' Conference that started on Monday, General Dalbir Singh stressed on "the necessity to maintain very high degree of vigil and operational preparedness along disputed borders", an official statement said.

He also complimented concerned commanders and troops for successfully executing recent counter-terrorist operations "while displaying due restraint".

The army chief stressed the necessity of speeding up the army's modernisation and capability development initiatives, and asked all commanders to continuously monitor and maintain internal health, values and ethics in all formations and units.

The Army Commanders Conference is the highest level conference held to discuss current internal and external strategic issues, review of operational preparedness of the Indian Army and aspects pertaining to training, administration, military technology and force modernisation.

The conference was inaugurated by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Monday and will culminate on April 30.
