Kidnapped cop upsets government
Atindranath Dutta, the kidnapped policeman released by the Naxals, is proving to be an embarrassment for the government as well as the police bosses.

He's been appearing on various TV shows after being released last week.

"He is violating conduct rules by speaking with the media day and night and divulging every detail of the case. We had asked him not to do so. However, we are evaluating the role of the OC as well as others in the police station during the Maoist attack. If some anomalies come forward, necessary action will be taken," said  Kuldip Singh, IG, Western Range speaking to a national daily.

Atindranath Dutta, a police officer in West Bengal, was freed fifty-four hours after he was kidnapped by the Naxals. The happy ending came after 14 tribal women, in jail for alleged links to Naxals, were granted bail. They were among a group of 60 women in prison who the Naxals wanted released.

The policeman was kidnapped at the Sankrail police station in West Midnapore after a hundred armed Naxals, led by women, opened fire. Two officers were killed, Dutta was blindfolded and taken hostage.
