Guwahati: A professor of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly raping an employee 12 days ago. Aloke Kumar Ghoshal, the dean of Academic Affairs at the institute, has been accused by the woman of sexually exploiting her for a month.
The professor was questioned on Monday and arrested from the IIT campus on Tuesday.
"We received a complaint against the professor and started our investigations four days ago. We got some evidence and found that there is a need to arrest the professor for proper investigation," senior police officer Anand Prakash Tiwari said.
