Encephalitis kills 27 children in Gaya

Gaya, Bihar: Twenty-seven children, including some eight-year-olds, have died of encephalitis in the last month in Gaya district of Bihar.

Another 15 are being treated at the Magadh Medical College Hospital.

A team of doctors is at the hospital to investigate the reasons behind the deaths. The committee's report is expected by Tuesday evening.

The administration says an adequate supply of medicines is being maintained at the hospital to prevent further deaths. A large-scale vaccination drive will be undertaken in the district from the November 12.
