New Delhi:
Deputy National Security Advisor (NSA) Nehchal Sandhu, 63, today resigned from his post, citing "personal reasons." His resignation was accepted "with regret" by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The "Prime Minister accepted his resignation with regret and expressed appreciation for Mr Sandhu's outstanding service to the country in a career spanning over 40 years - as a police officer, Director of Intelligence Bureau and Deputy NSA," a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office said tonight.
A 1973-batch Bihar cadre IPS official, Mr Sandhu, a former Director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), took over as Deputy NSA and secretary of the National Security Council Secretariat on March 21 last year.
Mr Sandhu retired from the IB Director's post on December 31, 2012 after serving a two-year term.
