India COVID-19 Live: More than 3,000 people also recovered from the coronavirus

New Delhi:

India today recorded 3,805 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the coronavirus tally to 4,30,98,743. The country also recorded 22 covid-related fatalities, bringing the total number of deaths to 5,24,024.

According to the Health Ministry, the daily positivity rate stood at 1.07 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate was 0.70 per cent.

More than 3,000 people also recovered from the coronavirus, taking the total number of Covid recoveries in the country to 4,25,54,416.

Gujarat Reports 27 Covid Cases, 1 Death
Gujarat reported 27 COVID-19 cases and one death on Saturday, increasing its tally to 12,24,470 and toll to 10,944, said a state health department official. The recovery count increased by 19 to touch 12,13,401, leaving the state with an active caseload of 125, he said.

The lone death took place in Kheda district, while the cases comprised 19 in Ahmedabad, three in Vadodara and one each in Banaskantha, Gandhinagar, Kheda, Mehsana and Rajkot, the official said.

Fresh COVID-19 Case In Andamans After Fortnight

One new COVID-19 case was recorded in Andaman and Nicobar Islands after 14 days, taking the Union territory's caseload to 10,036, a health bulletin said today.

The new infection was detected during contact tracing, it said.

The previous infection was reported on April 23 and the patient was cured on April 30.

The archipelago now has one active case, while 9,906 people have recovered from the disease and 129 patients have succumbed to the infection to date, it said.

The administration has thus far tested over 7.26 lakh samples for COVID-19 and fully vaccinated 3.4 lakh people, it added.

Maharashtra's Thane Logs 29 New COVID-19 Cases In 24 Hours

Thane district of Maharashtra reported 29 new coronavirus positive cases, which took its infection count to 7,09,161, an official said today.

These cases were reported on Friday.

As nobody succumbed to the infection during the day, the fatality count continued to stand at 11,893, he said, adding that the district's COVID-19 mortality rate is 1.67 per cent.

In neighbouring Palghar district, the caseload has gone up to 1,63,612, while the death count is 3,407, another official said.
