Coastal Districts Of West Bengal May Receive Heavy Rainfall Tomorrow

Kolkata: A depression in west central Bay of Bengal may intensify into a deep depression and cause heavy rainfall in the coastal districts of West Bengal till tomorrow, the weather department said today.

"A depression over west central Bay of Bengal may intensify into a deep depression and is likely to move north-northwestwards initially and then recurve northeastwards towards Bangladesh coast," Regional MeT Director GK Das said.

"The system is likely to cause heavy rainfall in coastal districts of East and West Midnapore, South and North 24 Parganas and Howrah on November four and five," Mr Das said.

Kolkata is likely to receive light to moderate rainfall till tomorrow, he said.

The system is likely to move towards south Bangladesh coast on Sunday evening leading to an improvement in weather from Monday morning, Mr Das said.

Kolkata has received 41.7 mm rainfall till 8:30 AM today, the MeT department said, adding cloudy conditions will prevail with one or two or two spells of rain or thundershowers in the city during the weekend.
