Goa:
After he was declared the head of the committee that will lead the BJP into the national elections, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, in a 45-minute-long speech, addressed the 300 party leaders present at the Goa conclave.
Following are the highlights of his address:
Thankful to Rajnath Singh for not just entrusting thisresponsibility but such an honour
Rajnath Singh did not let me speak before him; this is not a function of position but of his large heartedness
We are all workers and it is our responsibility to do whatever is entrusted to us
BJP's senior leaders have molded me... ignored my mistake
We will not leave any stone unturned... I trust BJP leaders
These (party workers) all people used to work
Today in Kerala, Nagaland, Mizoram, our workers have spent their life time... they were killed
There are workers who have worked from generation to generation... they did not come on TV or newspapers... but they have worked for the party
We're in politics to serve. We need to win elections so that we can work for the people
Rajnath Singh was CM of UP; has he ever been accused of corruption? Has any BJP Chief Minister been accused of corruption?
Then why are those sitting in Delhi accused - they have become corruption proof
Congress says "bharat nirman mei haq hai mera"; people say "bharat nirman mei shaq hai mera"
Arun Jaitley said well begun is half-done; I say well begun is half won
You can neither have expectations from this government nor trust it. Trust is the biggest thing in the world
The people of this country have lost their faith; and they continue to lose it with the events that are unfolding
This government changes its policies at midnight and you would not know it if the Supreme Court did not question them
People are saying Goa is lucky for Modi; the question is not of luck
Whenever Goa has blessed me, that project has attained new heights and this time to the work entrusted will achieved in the grandest manner
Article 356 was used wrongly by the Congress in the past; Raj Bhawans had become Congress Bhawans. And now they have employed the CBI to suppress the opposition
Congress has weakened institutions
Planning Commission is chaired by the PM. Why do they have the NAC now on top of them - that too headed by Madam?
I told the PM not just in the NAC, even in the Planning Commission there is a person who had been accused of colluding with Naxals. The PM had no answers
They keep saying it is a coalition compulsion; the foreign minister starts reading another country's speech at the UN, is that a compulsion
They are running the country in a non-serious way; they have taken the people from granted
We have to focus on the youth of this country; why is it that there are so many protests at Jantar Mantar?
During Vajpayee's tenure, there was trust - we all felt the country is growing. There was positive feeling. From 2004, it has been a sinking feeling
We are not out to grab power, we must win back the trust of the millions of Indians
The people are so upset with the Congress that they were wiped out in the recent by-polls
Whether we are read about in the newspapers or seen on TV, we must leave our imprint in the hearts of the people
Due to policy paralysis, we have power plants but no coal. Why is there no coal? Because there is no policy
Can a country run like this?
The Law Minister wants to make laws for fixing; they can't and he does not know that this is a state subject
We must go forward with the dream of a Congress-mukta Bharat
(Slogans) Desh ka neta kaisa ho, Narendra Modi jaisa ho
